The Lakewood Community Gardens is located on Candlewood Street between Palo Verde Avenue and Woodruff Avenue in Lakewood, California.
Established over 30 years ago, this partnership between Southern California Edison and the City of Lakewood allows Lakewood residents to lease a garden plot and take advantage of our year-round growing seasons and the health benefits of gardening (fresh produce, exposure to sunshine, and exercise)!
The three-acre site is divided into 323 individual gardening plots of 150 square feet each. Water and green waste for mulching is provided by the city and horse-manure fertilizer is purchased from our local stables for gardeners' use - all for a small annual fee (currently $15 per year). Each gardener is responsible for planting, watering, and maintaining his or her plot and the surrounding pathways. A portable restroom is available on site.
For more information on plot maintenance, rules and regulations, check out the FAQs and garden etiquette & membership and bylaws pages.
